CRIT FEEDBACK

  • using indents to join the 'bitty' paragraphs into a more fluid piece
  • use small caps for the date headings - I also put them in bold just to give more definition
  • change the margins; the inside was too small and the outer and top too big

I also changed the italic title to semibold regular as it was too distracting.

REFLECTION

I ran into a few hurdles whilst doing this task but I think overall it turned out well. Using the golden aspect to help with proportions was very helpful. I chose to use only one column as it's a diary extract, so I thought a traditional book format would go nicely; same reasoning for using unjustified format. In the original text the dates were separated by empty lines on either side; I found this too obtrusive so merged them with the paragraphs. The body text is 8pt with 12pt leading; spacious enough to be a comfortable read. The title is set apart with a rest zone to create importance, 12pt with bold italic source sans pro to draw attention. The only details I'm unsure about are the ragging and the single worded lines in some paragraphs; I await feedback from my tutorial.
